Summer 2025 residential songwriting camps
Creativity, Collaboration & Confidence in Full Harmony!
The Song Academy residential summer songwriting camps 2025 were an unforgettable celebration of creativity, collaboration and musical discovery! Over four incredible days, young songwriters from across the UK (and beyond!) came together to write, perform and produce their own original songs — supported by a team of professional songwriters, producers and mentors who guided them every step of the way.
From the moment the first chords were strummed to the final showcase performances, the camps buzzed with energy, laughter and inspiration. The atmosphere was electric — a perfect blend of learning, experimentation and pure joy for making music together.
As well as the songwriting camp in Surrey (in its 3rd year) with 50 aspiring young songwriters, we launched a songwriting camp in North Yorkshire with 22 aspiring young songwriters!

Crafting Songs with Heart and Purpose
Each day began with creative workshops designed to spark ideas and strengthen songwriting skills. Our sessions on creating song concepts and understanding song structure encouraged participants to think deeply about the stories they wanted to tell. From there, we explored creative lyric writing, helping everyone find their own unique voice and message.
Music That Moves — Chords, Melody & Harmony
Musicians stretched their creative muscles in chord, melody and harmony improvisation sessions, discovering the power of musical storytelling. With some hands-on music theory and group jam sessions, young songwriters learned how to craft memorable hooks and emotive progressions that made their songs truly shine.
Finding Your Sound & Bringing Songs to Life
Our workshops on developing your sound and style gave participants the tools to express their individuality, while the recording and production sessions let them experience the magic of turning ideas into fully produced tracks. Watching songs evolve from notebook scribbles to polished recordings was one of the highlights of the week!
Performance, Community & Confidence
Music is meant to be shared, and our choir and band sessions brought everyone together to create powerful, collaborative performances. Whether singing harmonies or playing instruments, every participant had the chance to shine.
Evenings were packed with connection and fun — from our lively open mic/songwriter night to the legendary quiz night, where friendships flourished and laughter filled the air.
Learning from the Best
The VIP Professional Songwriters Night was an unforgettable experience — participants had the rare opportunity to ask questions and gain insider knowledge from acclaimed songwriters and producers working in today’s industry. Masterclasses on song production, chord progressions, melody improvisation and lyrical development added a professional edge, inspiring everyone to take their songwriting to the next level.
The Grand Finale — Showcase Performances
The camps concluded with the end-of-camp showcase, where each group took to the stage to perform their original songs. The performances were nothing short of extraordinary — bursting with authenticity, courage and passion. Family, friends and mentors watched with pride as our young songwriters poured their hearts into every note.
A Community of Young Creators
More than just a camp, each Song Academy Summer Residential camp 2025 was a community — a place where young people discovered their voices, formed lasting friendships and found confidence through creativity.
