In its 14th year The Young Songwriter 2024 (SAYS24) competition is the world’s leading songwriting competition for young aspiring songwriters, aged 8-22 (under 23 years), to get their songs heard by leaders in the industry & connect to a talented community of young songwriters across the world – both aspiring young songwriters who already have some experience, and those writing their first song!

We are uplifting and empowering songwriters/creatives of the future.

SAYS24 has 6 categories for young people worldwide: UK/Ireland 8-12 year olds, UK/Ireland 13-15 year olds, UK/Ireland 16-18 year olds, UK/Ireland 19-22, International 8-12 year olds and International 13-18 year olds.
Insightful song feedback report £35
This is a golden opportunity for young songwriters to have a professional songwriter give them tips & advice on ways to develop their songs. Plus, importantly, it gives young songwriters a boost to their confidence & belief in their songwriting talents.

Our feedback report focuses on three key areas: lyrics, melody and production / structure. We give our thoughts on the lyrics & ways to enhance their impact. We give our thoughts on the melodies in each section of the song and chord choices. We give our thoughts on the song structure and ideas for using different structures. Also we recommend songs and songwriters to have a listen to.
Songwriting for beginners short video course £35
Scarlet and Brendan from Song Academy will talk you through each stage of the songwriting process to write your own song – from start to finish –deciding on a concept for your song, writing lyrics, improvising melodies, creating chord progressions and recording their song.

There are useful worksheets for each stage of the process to make it really easy to write your song. You can send us your finished song at the end and we’ll send you a certificate!
One hour 121 song clinic £75
Our team of professional songwriters can talk you through our thoughts on how to develop your song and answer any questions you have. We tailor the song clinic to individual needs, covering all areas of your song – lyrics, melodies, composition, song structure, recording & production. The cost includes the time spent listening to your song & preparing ideas beforehand.
2 hour online songwriting workshop writing a group song £30
Our holiday songwriting workshops are a perfect opportunity, in a condensed time frame, to write an original song with professional songwriters. Participants will develop their lyrical & musical skills with new ideas and techniques. They will develop their confidence and ability to express themselves…as well as meeting other like-minded young creatives and having a lot of fun!

Small groups for beginners and those already writing their own songs and wanting some inspiration/guidance.
2 day songwriting online holiday workshop writing your own song £85
Songwriting workshops with small groups of like-minded young creatives. They get inspired by Song Academy professional songwriters & take on songwriting briefs to express themselves with lyrics & music….writing their own original songs. Builds confidence, plus advances creative lyric writing, melody improvisation & music composition skills……and great fun! Workshops run every holiday.
Membership of Spring Term 2024 online songwriting clubs £185
Our exciting songwriting clubs (online and in-person) are run by inspiring professional songwriters. Each songwriting group has only 4 pupils of the same age and musical ability, for plenty of one to one time. There are fun songwriting briefs to spark ideas and the Song Academy team help with developing lyrics, melodies and composition. The end of term concert is a very special event.

Each term members will write at least one song and develop their musicality and ability to powerfully express themselves. Parents tell us that the number one benefit from being part of Song Academy is the positive impact on their child’s confidence and self-esteem.

Songwriting clubs run for the following age groups: 8-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds, 13-15 year olds and 16-18 year olds on different days of the week and at 4:45-5:45pm or 5:45-6:45pm. 10 sessions of one hour each per term. We use Zoom and the Soundtrap songwriting/music production app to create an engaging experience.
