A unique creative opportunity to develop your pupils’ songwriting (lyrics, melodies, composition & production) talents and most importantly their confidence and self-belief to articulate powerfully how they are feeling about important issues that affect them. Pupils will develop their ‘soft skills’ like creativity, emotional intelligence, empathy, listening, curiosity and inter-personal skills.
Our songwriting workshops for schools are a perfect catalyst to spark ideas for writing a first song or developing songs already started. They give pupils an opportunity to learn from professional songwriters and have an extended songwriting tool-kit to develop their own songs.
Give your pupils the goal of writing songs to enter into The Young Songwriter 2023 competition (entry period 1st February to 31st March 2023). We can run songwriting workshops to help your pupils develop their songs, giving tips & advice and building their confidence.
Workshops are tailored to the needs of the group of pupils. Songwriting workshops range from introductions to songwriting for a diverse range of abilities to songwriting workshops for a group of musically talented pupils. Past workshops have focused on general songwriting techniques & inspiration, lyrics & melodies, composition, production & recording. We’ve also run songwriting workshops to create a new school song.
Songwriting workshops in different formats from 1, 2 or 3 hour workshops to a whole day. We run in-person and online workshops.
We also run successful songwriting clubs in Schools’ after-school programmes.

Testimonials.
We are so grateful to have such inspiring and talented leaders from Song Academy working with our pupils. Pupils get the opportunity to be creative in a fun and engaging environment, learning how to write their own songs and performing them at The Troubadour at the end of term. We’ve noticed a significant boost to our pupils’ confidence and self-esteem. Plus we’ve had pupils entering The Young Songwriter competitions and attending exclusive events like the YouTube Music Young Songwriter workshops with Song Academy.
Chloe Evans, Knightsbridge School
Song Academy helped craft a beautiful school anthem that stuck in the hearts of teachers and pupils alike. It was an inclusive process that had the children and teachers involved in writing lyrics, improvising the melodies, harmonies and arrangement. It was a rewarding collaborative effort and a huge success.
Lisa Garson, Latymer Prep School
Song Academy rocks! It provides our musically gifted pupils a unique opportunity to advance their creative talents and work with like-minded peers and inspiring professional songwriters they would never otherwise have access to.
Michael Schumm, St Stephen’s School
It has been such a pleasure to introduce Song Academy at our school; the children absolutely love their sessions, and some of our most shy children have surpassed themselves by gaining the confidence to get up on stage and sing their songs. Tali and Josie are inspirational leaders and I can’t wait until next term’s gig! Song Academy is a wonderful organisation that really champions and develops the artistic and creative abilities in young people – it is reassuring that such organisations exist at this time when the Arts are so undervalued and in danger of being marginalised in education.
Mrs Silvester, Director of Music, St Swithun’s Junior School
Our songwriting resources for Teachers provide inspiration, guides and practical exercises to try out in Music, English & PSHE lessons. We have seen the positive impact from young people writing their own songs and collaborating with their peers. Songwriting helps young people to be creative musicians, eloquent writers & most importantly builds their confidence & communication skills.
Our original instrumental tracks in each genre of music are ideal tools for pupils to improvise their lyrics & melodies. They will also broaden their knowledge of different musical styles.
